NCMPR to Expose College Presidents to Social Media

My official work with NCMPR begins in earnest this weekend, as I travel to New Orleans for the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) Convention. I’ll be co-presenting with Barb Dreger, director of college marketing at Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, Wisconsin. The presentation, “Shaping Your Colleges’ Social Media Strategy,” is intended to emphasize the importance of integrating social media into traditional communication efforts and provide some case studies on how social media can effectively build a college brand. It is intended for presidents who have yet to consider the importance or value of social media as a communication channel used by colleges. Of course, it is good exposure for NCMPR, especially to those colleges that are not involved with our organization. While I have access to these presidents, I thought it would be good to use them as a resource and survey them on their perceptions of social media. It would be good to see how comfortable they are with social media and how much they support it at their colleges. Perhaps we will be able to provide some unscientific data or insight back to our members. I’ll let you know how it goes in a future blog post.
