NCMPR @ Home Playlist – On Spotify Now

The board and staff of NCMPR have assembled a playlist of 47 songs on Spotify. The songs in the collection are meaningful to the individuals who selected them, and they also convey a connection to the unique reality facing us all right now.

Like communicators and marketers, music tells a story. Here are just a few of the titles from our playlist, along with the story behind each selection. We hope you enjoy!

Don’t Come Around Here No More (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers)
Social distancing so … HEY … don’t come ‘round here no more.

Added by Jeff Julian, NCMPR District 3 Director, Harper College, IL

The Girl From Yesterday (Eagles)
“She stayed at home and tried so hard to understand how someone who had been so close could be so far away” is so all of us right now. There were so many songs from the Eagles’ catalog I wanted to share, but I couldn’t pass this one up.
Added by Ben Munson, NCMPR Marketing and Member Outreach Manager, Dardenne Prairie, MO

Send Me On My Way (Rusted Root)
I’ve always loved the happiness of this tune. I’m ready to be on my way … somewhere, anywhere.
Added by Kym Browning, NCMPR Associate Director, Meridian, ID

Most People Are Good (Luke Bryan)
I love the storytelling power of Country music. Just listen to the words – the sentiments in this song are perfectly expressed.

Get Up Offa That Thing (James Brown)
When you’re feeling the need to get off the couch and move, turn this one up …

Great upbeat song and it also wishes you well.

93 Million Miles (Jason Mraz)
I love this song because it reminds me of my boys, now that they are young adults. Somehow, it comforts me when I miss them.

Just Fine (Mary J. Blige)
When you need to stretch your legs, this song will get you moving around the house!

Lonely Avenue (Ray Charles)
One of my fav tunes by one of my fav artists. Seems like it could be in the running for Quarantine Theme Song, too.
Added by Jaclyn Youhana Garver, NCMPR Administrative Services Coordinator, Fort Wayne, IN

Beautiful Day (U2)
I am physically incapable of not including a U2 song on any playlist recommendation. It’s a well-worn shoe in their catalog but scores high on the pick-me-up scale. And with everyone waiting for this to blow over, who can’t identify with this line? “See the bird with a leaf in her mouth. After the flood all the colors came out.”
Added by Jeff Ebbing, NCMPR District 5 Director, Southeastern Community College, IA

How You Live (Point of Grace)
This one’s just full of good reminders.
Added by Lawanna Duran, NCMPR Publications Coordinator, Albuquerque, NM

No Roots (Alice Merton)
Fun song to sing along with. It’s actually about NOT staying home.
Added by Virginia Moreland, NCMPR District 2 Director, The College System of Tennessee

Float On (Modest Mouse)
Because it’s all going to be okay.
Added by Jennie McCue, NCMPR District 6 Director, Saddleback College, CA

Hallelujah (Maelyn Jarmon)
The end.
Added by Grace Kendall, District 7 Director, Peninsula College, WA
